FDBA People’s Choice Award Voting Begins
As announced in October 2019, FDBA has introduced a new People’s Choice Award (Announcement Here)
The FDBA People’s Choice Award will recognise someone within the Association that has shown outstanding commitment to the development of basketball in the Frankston region.
After four weeks of nominations the FDBA Office has short listed it to eight nominees.
All voting will occur of the Frankston Basketball facebook page starting 7:30pm Saturday 30th November 2019.

Abby Chernishoff – Abby is one of our best, young coaches and helped guide the U12.6 Girls to a Grand Final in her first season coaching VJBL alongside Steph Reid and Tori Jackson. She is now the Head Coach of our U12.3 Girls and her passion for coaching consistently sees her go above and beyond in her role. Abby also recently travelled to Ballarat with Adam Kerr and Kerryn Mitchell to assist our U14 Girls in the U14 Nationals campaign where she played a number of integral roles as Assistant Coach but also team Physio/Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Cindy Shacklock – Cindy is a long term administrator for the Flinders Basketball Club and such is her dedication to the club that she continued to fulfil this role even whilst living overseas. Cindy is also heavily involved with the Junior Blues and completed a power of work during this year’s tryouts attending all 4 days of tryouts and contributing significantly to the administration and setup often times recruiting her husband to help as well. Cindy is also the Team Manager for the Blues U14.2 Boys this year.
Louise Jungwirth – Louise is Vice President of FDBA’s largest club, Mt Eliza Meteors and member of the Junior Competitions Committee. Louise also helped with fundraising for our U14 Girls trip to Ballarat for Nationals.
Peter Cappel – Pete is currently coach/team manager for 7 domestic teams at Flinders Basketball. He is also a member of the Junior Competitions Committee and provides valuable expertise on the U16 – U21 boys and girls competitions in particular.
Richard Rault – An FDBA life member, Richard is a long serving coach with Frankston Blues and Domestic Club Mt Eliza Meteors. He is currently coaching the U18.3 Girls with the Blues and an U16 Girls domestic team.
Tam Phillipe – Junior Blues Scorers School, Junior Blues Try-Outs, Peninsula Tribunal Panel. Tam Philippe has run numerous Score Bench and Shot Clock education sessions for our Junior Blues parents, Tam also put her hand up to help with Junior Blues tryouts and is on the Peninsula Tribunal Panel. There is no job too big or too small for Tam and she is always volunteering her time to help the club.
Tanya Canavan – Tanya is an active disability an inclusion advocate in the Frankston Community and played an integral part in launching FDBA’s first All Abilities Program designed for children in August. The 6 week program was a great success and has now become an ongoing part of the Regional Academy. Tanya also coaches an U10 Girls domestic team with the Belvedere Breakers.
Zoe Fagan – Zoe Fagan represents Frankston on the Junior Representative Council with VJBL and is also our VJBL delegate, she also coached our U14.2 Girls in 2018/2019 and is an Assistant Coach with our U14.1 Girls in 2019/2020.
