Referee Beginner School Update (Early 2019)
The recent referee beginner school has just wrapped up with 20 new referees participating.
The new referees have attended and now completed a 4-week theory component where they have been provided training on basic rules of the game, signalling, expectations for the calling of the game and a communication module.
While the theory component was underway the new trainees have been also running on court alongside some of our more experienced referees assisting them with what they have learned in the classroom and putting this into practice on court.
Over the next few weeks our trainees will gradually move from senior competitions through to junior competitions to help them to continue to build their confidence eventually getting to a level where they will be able to run by themselves.
Once our referees are graded they will be handed a green shirt and you will start to see some new faces joining the refereeing ranks on the Saturday competitions.
Please be mindful that all of our referees in green shirts are new and still learning, we ask that extra consideration and support be given to them at this time while they develop the necessary skills required to progress with their officiating.
