The Winter 2017 season reaches fever pitch as 430 teams battle it out during Grand Final week

The Winter 2017 season reaches fever pitch as 430 teams battle it out during Grand Final week, commencing Saturday 16th September with the U8 Finals Participation day held at Langwarrin Stadium – Sixty-four teams comprising of our youngest athletes take to the court for their final match of the season after 18 rounds learning the basics of team play, good sportsmanship and comradery. All players receive a participatory award for their efforts, with the focus remaining on fun, whilst experiencing what finals basketball is all about.

From Sunday 17th to Thursday 21st September Frankston Stadium will be rocking as 150 teams from U16, U18, U21 and Senior (Men, Women & Mixed) competitions play off in the winner-takes-all grand finale matches for each respective division.

The carnival known as the FDBA Saturday Junior Domestic Grand Final day concludes a hectic week of finals on Saturday 23rd September. Two-hundred-and-fourteen teams from U9, U10, U12 and U14 divisions cap off their season in Championship Final, Bronze Medal and Reserve Final matches across three venues – Frankston Stadium, Langwarrin Stadium & Flinders College. We hope to see all 28 affiliated clubs well represented after battling through their semi-final round tomorrow!

Please remember, while finals basketball is exciting – this is just a game, the referees, coaches & officials are human and this is not the NBA. The FDBA encourages everyone to get into the spirit, but keep their behaviour acceptable – every person that walks through the door (including spectators) are bound by Basketball Victoria’s Codes of Conduct. Breach of these codes can result in tribunal hearings and suspensions.

Finally, don’t forget our Summer 2017/18 season commences shortly! Late entries for senior competitions are being accepted until Sunday 17th September, and all club registrations for junior competitions must be submitted by Sunday 24th September.

Good luck to all teams and congratulations on helping Frankston Basketball remain The Leader in Community Sports.
