Frankston Basketball Regional Academy is pleased to announce our leading coaches for the Specialist & High Performance school holiday programs this September/October:
One thing you should know about Brian is that he can shoot a basketball. He enjoys seeing those that he’s coached in shooting techniques, have immediate and lasting success. He’s been the leading scorer on nearly every team he’s played and especially prides himself on making free throws, where he currently is attempting a world record (he has a personal best of 229 makes) and has been mentored by the great Dr. Tom Amberry, recognized as the world’s best free throw shooter and someone who personally assisted Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
Brian is a former High-School All-American (“Who’s Who”) from Bloomington Lincoln (Minnesota), where he averaged 15 ppg and 12 rbg.
He was a starting guard in college (Ventura College, California) where he led the league in free throw shooting (98.6%), missing only one free throw during the course of his last season. He played as a professional in the Victorian Basketball League (Big V) from 1990-2001 and probably still remains as the leading scorer in Waverley’s history.
His personal highlights include Big V Player of the Year (Waverley 1997), 31 points in one quarter (Big V record) without missing a shot, 37 rebounds in a game (Big V record) and 42 consecutive free throws without a miss. He finished his playing career in 2001, playing as a player/coach for Southern Peninsula (VBL) and was among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding and assists. He’s also coached the Waverley Falcons (1997 VBL) and trained with the Melbourne Tigers (2000-2001).
Storied veteran from the hayday of basketball in the 1990’s, former SEABL point guard Chris Ash heads our Guard Camp with a focus on high intensity and individual fundamental execution.
